Devtools is a bit more particular in this case.) Package Development Prerequisites Overview. There are two main prerequisites for building R packages: GNU software development tools including a C/C++ compiler; and; LaTeX for building R manuals and vignettes. This article describes how to satisfy these dependencies for Windows, Mac OS X and Debian/Ubuntu Linux. Next:, Previous:, Up: 1 Introduction This document contains a user guide to the R.APP version of R, and information on using R on OS X which supplements the main R manuals. As from R 3.0.0 most of the information has been moved to those manuals, the latest versions of which can be found at. In this document R refers to the core, command-line-based R system while R.APP refers to the GUI-based Mac OS application that controls the underlying R. This ‘R for Mac OS X FAQ’ is rather incomplete at the moment and requires contributions from users. Anything specific to the R language can be found in the main R-FAQ (see ). Please send any requests/questions you would like answers to the mailing list (after subscribing) as well as comments on this FAQ. The last section of this document contains the most frequently asked questions that don’t fit strictly into any of the categories above – it is usually a good idea to always look into that section if your issue doesn’t fit any of the above or was not answered in one of the specific sections. Always read this FAQ before asking for help on R-SIG-Mac! Previous:, Up: 1.3 How can R for Mac OS X be obtained and installed? R is available on CRAN in the form of an Installer package containing the R framework and the R.APP GUI. The package is usually named R.pkg with an optional version number. The installation is done by double-clicking on the Installer package. The Installer will guide you through the necessary steps. Note that it will require password or login of an account with administrator privileges. The installation can be customized, but the default is suitable for most users. Snapshots of the R-patched and R-devel flavours are available at, packaged in the same way. Further details, including uninstallation and building R from the sources, are in the ‘R Installation and Administration Manual’. Next:, Previous:, Up: 2.3.3 The current and startup working directories If not otherwise specified in the Preferences (see ), or if the specified path is no longer available, then the default working directory at startup is the user home. The working directory can be changed using the setwd R command or using the Misc menu item Change working directory. Finally it is possible to use a specific directory for a single R session by dragging a folder onto the R.APP icon. If R.APP is not running, this will cause R.APP to be started in the directory corresponding to the folder dragged. The same can be achieved on the command line – for example open -a R. Causes R.APP to be started using the current directory as the startup working directory.

The tutorial explains the Excel charts basics and provides the detailed guidance on how to make a graph in Excel. You will also learn how to combine two chart types, save a graph as chart template, change the default chart type, resize and move the graph. Everyone needs to create graphs in Excel to visualize data or check on the latest trends. Microsoft Excel provides a wealth of powerful chart features, 聽but it may be challenging to locate the necessary options. Unless you have a good understanding of various chart types and data types they are appropriate for, you may spend hours fiddling with different chart elements and yet end up creating a graph that bears only remote resemblance to what you've pictured in your mind. This chart tutorial starts with the basics and walks you through the process of making a chart in Excel step-by-step. And even if you are a beginner with little to no experience, you will be able to create your first Excel graph in minutes and make it look exactly the way you want it to look. You can create a chart in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. However, the chart data is entered and saved in an Excel worksheet. If you insert a chart in Word or PowerPoint, a new sheet is opened in Excel. Creating a Bar Graph • In Excel, graphs are called Charts. To begin to make a Chart, select (highlight) the data on your worksheet that you want to show on your graph and then click the Chart Wizard symbol on the Toolbar Note: It is important that you highlight only the data that you want to include in your graph. • • • • • • • • Excel charts basics A chart, also known as graph, is a graphical representation of numeric data where the data is represented by symbols such as bars, columns, lines, slices, and so on. It is common to make graphs in Excel to better understand large amounts of data or relationship between different data subsets. Microsoft Excel lets you create a great lot of different graph types such as Column chart, Bar chart, Line chart, Pie chart, Area chart, Bubble chart, Stock, Surface, Radar charts, and PivotChart. Excel charts have a handful of elements. Some of these elements are displayed by default, others can be added and modified manually as needed. Chart area 2. Chart title 3. Horizontal (category) axis 5. Vertical (value) axis 6. Axis title 7. Data points of the data series 8. Chart legend 9. Data label How to make a graph in Excel When creating graphs in Excel, you can select from a variety of chart types to present your data in the way most meaningful to your users. You can also by using several chart types. To create a chart in Excel, you start by entering the numeric data on a worksheet, and then continue with the following steps. Prepare the data to plot in a chart For most Excel charts, such as bar charts or column charts, no special data arrangement is required. You can organize the data in rows or columns, and Microsoft Excel will automatically determine the best way to plot the data in your graph (you will be able to change this later). To make a good-looking Excel chart, the following points could be helpful: • Either the column headings or data in the first column are used in the chart legend. Excel automatically chooses the data for the legend based on your data layout. • The data in the first column (or columns headings) is used as labels along the X axis of your chart. ![]() • The numerical data in other columns are used to create the labels for the Y axis. In this example, we are going to make a graph based on the following table. Select data to include in the chart Select all the data you want to include in your Excel graph. Be sure to select the column headings if you want them to appear either in the chart legend or axis labels. • If you want to make a chart based on adjacent cells, you can select only one cell, and Excel will automatically include all contiguous cells that contain data. • To create a graph based on the data in non- adjacent cells, select the first cell or a range of cells, hold down the CTRL key and select other cells or ranges. I’ve been stressing two-factor authentication (2FA), or two-step verification, in my early columns here at Private I, because I believe most people avoid using this extra protection for their accounts due to the fuss and management, and may think it will lock them out of access or require an extra step when it’s unnecessary. But 2FA isn’t an obstacle course with bottomless pits. It’s more like a flu vaccination. If you’re not feeling ill and aren’t worried about getting sick, you might skip the innoculation. That does you a fat lot of good when you’re laid up for two weeks with aches and fevers with one of the strains covered by the current shot—and you’ve infected all your coworkers. Likewise, as with backups, the precaution doesn’t feel good at all—it’s only when you could have had your account cracked, and didn’t, that you feel the sweet relief. When you begin to receive a series of password-reset messages secure in the knowledge that without that second factor, someone can’t get into your account? When you hear about a rash of password cracks and you’re not affected? Modern 2FA systems aimed at consumers and small businesses, and many for enterprises, avoid the use of keyfobs and other hardware keys—having to carry around those doodads is certainly a reason people avoided 2FA in the past. Among other things, you typically needed one per website or company! I still have eBay/PayPal and stock-trading doohickeys, and while I haven’t lost them, it’s a thing I have to keep track of and keep secure. Instead, most services either require or offer as an option the use of an authentication app that creates a limited-use code. Apps trump SMS Google offered one of the first widely used such apps,, to allow average people to make use of 2FA without relying on SMS transmission. SMS is not considered highly secure: there are a number of ways for people or institutions to intercept SMS, whether over the air or through centralized systems. ![]() (I about how SMS forwarding in Yosemite with Continuity will send second-factor SMS codes to any Mac or iOS device logged into the same iCloud account and with that feature enabled. In limited cases, it elevates risks, and you can easily mitigate them.) DuoSec's app can both generate security tokens using Google's widely adopted protocol, as well as pass direct authentication messages with its own system. Those risks are minimal or nonexistent for most (not all) of us, but SMS has a lot of limits and quirks. I’ve sometimes seen messages show up 30 minutes after a service apparently sent them, or never. If you travel outside of your home cellular service country or region, you might pay a small fortune for each text, or be unable to receive SMS at all. You might be somewhere rural with Internet service and no cell coverage, which has happened to me a surprising number of times on vacations. I'm never good at writing the first sentence of a release so bare with me. This theme was created to match the new OS made by Apple, Mac OS X 10.4 codenamed Tiger. My Mac OS X Panther theme came out in 2004. I as the monthes passed I wasn't pleased with the end result of the theme, I wasn't happy with it, even though the majority of people I spoke with loved it. Having said that, I had decided to create a new version of the theme from scratch. I rebuilt it all from ground up and I think it is a very large improvement over Mac OS X Panther. I've also included a few additional schemes to add more to the Mac experience, it features the classic Aqua and Graphite scheme, the newly introduced Platinum scheme which is found in the System Preferences and Mail programs in Mac OS X 10.4. In addition to those two, I couldn't leave out the beloved Brushed. There is over 20 substyles and those included two versions of the start menu's, one being the standard start menu, and the other being my own Compact apple menu (AM). The apple menu is a simple stripped down start menu that is made to look like the apple menu in Mac OS X. Zipeg for Mac is all this and a little more. It can handle.zip,.rar,.7z,.z,.tar,.gz,.tgz,.bz2, and other exotic archive types, and it particularly excels at large archives. With Zipeg for Mac you can see the files contained in the archive and manually select the ones you wish to expand, leaving unselected files unexpanded. By processing only what matters to you, less space is wasted on your hard drive and you wait less time as the archive opens. This is of course particularly handy for large archives or ones that contain an unexpectedly large number of small files. Another function where Zipeg will beat the competition in is its ability to sometimes extract files from archives that are partially damaged. Most software will only successfully decompress archives if the whole process didn't cause any error, even if some files were OK. Of course, it also handles split archives. The only downside to this software is that sometimes you just want to double-click an archive and expand it. In 1987, two brothers, Thomas and John Kroll, began work on an image editing software, which was eventually acquired in 1988 and released to the world in 1990 by Adobe. That software was Photoshop 1.0, initially exclusive for the Macintosh platform. Over the years, Photoshop became a great wizard of image editing and gained application rockstar status. Naturally, most of us are familiar with Photoshop, but more than 20 years later, the game has definitely changed, and there have been a growing number of various complaints about the software. How to convert your MBOX files to PST – two solutions: one free, the other simple. Aid4Mail is developed by Fookes Software—email specialists since 1999. If you’re like most people, you want a free email converter—but not one that’s complicated or inaccurate. You want an email extractor or migration tool that’s quick and easy—but works well. There’s just one tool that meets all these criteria: Aid4Mail’s MBOX Converter. Aid4Mail MBOX Converter is currently the easiest and most complete FREE solution on the internet for converting between MBOX-type mailboxes and EML files. It converts: • MBOX to EML • Thunderbird to EML • Eudora to EML • Between Mac and Windows MBOX • Between UNIX and Windows MBOX Best of all, it’s the only MBOX converter that gives you the seamless experience you’re looking for—at no cost to you. It’s Your MBOX Converter of Choice. • Use it as a first step to export Thunderbird to Outlook, Windows Live Mail or Outlook Express. • Convert mailboxes to EML files—which can be indexed with Windows' Desktop Search and other search tools—so you can easily find emails. • Convert your mailbox from Windows to Mac or UNIX. It’s more accurate Aid4Mail MBOX Converter restores folders AND subfolders in the proper hierarchy during conversion, making the next stage of the email migration process easier. By comparison, most other free conversion solutions group all folders at the same level, which means you have to spend time re-creating your folder hierarchy after conversion. In addition, Aid4Mail MBOX Converter doesn’t transfer hidden deleted messages (i.e. Unpurged mail) like most other free tools do. ![]() You see, in most cases, deleted messages aren’t actually removed by your mail program—instead, they’re first copied to the trash folder and then the original message is simply hidden from display. Aid4Mail MBOX Converter identifies deleted messages and automatically skips them, so they aren’t transferred to your new mail program. Since these hidden messages often make up more than 80% of your email, this can save you hours of clean-up. Frankly, this feature alone makes Aid4Mail MBOX Converter an unbeatable option, but there’s another feature that makes it even more valuable It Keeps Your Emails Intact Aid4Mail MBOX Converter is one of the rare free programs that actually fixes proprietary Qualcomm Eudora messages, converting them into fully compliant MIME messages. This step is necessary so that other email programs can display the messages correctly. When you use Aid4Mail MBOX Converter, your Eudora attachments and embedded content are re-inserted into the email message during conversion.
